Vineo ("we", "our", "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your data.

1. Data We Collect

Data stored locally on your device:

• Wine information (name, appellation, vintage, notes, photos)
• Your app preferences
• Recommendation history

Data synced via iCloud (optional):

• If you enable iCloud sync, your data is stored in your personal iCloud account
• We have no access to this data

Data sent to our servers:

• Label photos for AI analysis (processed then immediately deleted)
• Pairing requests (dish text only)
• No personally identifiable data is retained

Anonymous identifier:

• The app generates a unique anonymous identifier (UUID) stored locally on your device
• This identifier cannot be used to personally identify you
• It is used to prevent service abuse and for anonymous usage statistics
• It is transmitted to our servers during analyses and recommendations, but is never associated with your personal data

Anonymous analytics data:

• We collect anonymous usage events (e.g. label scan, paywall view) via PostHog
• This data contains no personally identifiable information
• It is used solely to improve the app
• It is never sold or used for advertising purposes

2. How We Use Your Data

We use your data solely to:

• Run the app on your device
• Analyze wine labels via our AI service
• Generate food and wine pairing recommendations
• Improve the app through anonymous usage statistics

3. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties, except:

• AI services: Label photos are sent to our backend API for analysis. These images are processed in real time and not retained.
• PostHog: Analytics service used to collect anonymous usage events. Data hosted in Europe (EU). PostHog Privacy Policy.
• RevenueCat: Premium subscription management. RevenueCat processes transaction information under its own privacy policy. RevenueCat Privacy Policy.
• Apple (iCloud): If you enable sync, your data is stored in your iCloud account under Apple's terms.

4. Security

We take security seriously:

• Encrypted communications (HTTPS)
• No personal data stored on our servers
• Local data protected by iOS native security

5. Your Rights

You may at any time:

• Delete your data by uninstalling the app
• Disable iCloud sync in the app settings
• Contact us with any questions about your data

6. In-App Purchases

Premium subscriptions are managed by Apple via the App Store and RevenueCat. We do not have access to your payment information.

7. Changes

We may update this policy occasionally. Significant changes will be notified within the app.
